Staff Software Engineer and Engineering Lead with 15 years building backend, data, and AI systems that hold up in production. Founding engineer on Evercast, which won a 2020 Engineering Emmy. Now I lead the data and AI platform for a Fortune 100 media company, with a team that scales from 8 to 14 engineers as project demand shifts. I own the architecture from the first vague requirement to the pager going quiet, I still write the hard parts myself, and I mentor the engineers I bring up along the way. Eleven years at the same consultancy, fully remote, placed on the hard problems its clients could not solve alone. Between client engagements I also do advisory and fractional work, which I still keep room for.

Data and AI platform, Fortune 100 media company 2020 to Present

  • Build and lead the platform, with a team that scales from 8 to 14 engineers as project demand shifts.
  • Petabyte scale data pipelines and warehousing across BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow, dbt, and Spark, with self service analytics for the business on top.
  • LLMs, RAG, and multi agent orchestration running in production, not demos.
  • Built the MLOps path that took model deployment from weeks to hours.
  • On call for the platform. I am the one paged when a pipeline dies at 2am.

Evercast, live video for film and television Sep 2015 to Jan 2020

  • Founding engineer on the platform that won a 2020 Engineering Emmy.
  • Built a WebRTC stack (VP9, Opus, SRTP) delivering 4K at around 150ms latency for up to 256 concurrent teams.
  • Earned security approval from every major Hollywood studio (MPA Trusted Partner Network).
  • Used on 200+ productions, including Chernobyl, Lost in Space, and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Apr 2010 to Sep 2015

  • Senior Full Stack Developer, OSF Digital (Feb 2015 to Sep 2015). Built a global construction management app for Hyatt Hotels, still in use today.
  • Full Stack Developer and Team Lead, SecrelNet (Jul 2011 to Feb 2015). Led a team building an OpenStack based cloud platform, call center monitoring, and integration systems.
  • DevOps Engineer, OpenText (Apr 2010 to Jun 2011). Set up and ran Linux servers and B2B file delivery.
